The role
The incumbent will report to the Managing Director, and be responsible to lead and manage the function of Engineering Division so as to provide engineering support in basic design, detailed design and construction engineering for the construction of offshore drilling units, offshore support / service vessels and other structures efficiently and effectively, and to ensure client’s requirements are satisfied.
The incumbent will be required to carry out the following tasks:
1. To establish an effective flow of the engineering work in resolving technical problems arising from internal & external sources;
2. Initiate training when necessary to bring the engineering staff to the required skills level;
3. To ensure conformance of good design practice in the production of final design and construction drawings to contract specification, client’s requirements, standard codes, classification and regulatory bodies;
4. To manage an effective system in the exchange of information within the various engineering section(s) and with other department(s) within the organization;
5. To prepare reports, highlight critical activities and to provide remedial actions / solutions of recovery plan on the engineering issues;
6. To plan and monitor manpower and resource allocation requirements to ensure adequacy and optimization on utilization;
7. To provide engineering support in yard facilities, repair work and tendering of potential job;
8. Manage and develop all continuous improvement aspects of Engineering;
9. Ensure all operational and procedural aspects of Engineering are carried out to high safety and quality standards;
10. Other associated tasks and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
The person
The potential candidate for the role should possess the following:
1. Degree in Marine Engineering / relevant Engineering discipline;
2. Preference given to those who majored in Offshore Marine Structure and Shipbuilding;
3. Minimum 10-15 years of managerial level experience of basic design, detailed design and engineering in the construction of mobile offshore drilling units and related structures;
4. Effective communicator;
5. Possess good leadership and planning skills.
